Good Cooking Tips to Make Excellent Dishes

Published by under Cooking

For any recipe to be perfect there are some cooking tips but before that the cooking utensils should be managed properly and they should be as clean as possible. You know that salt is an integral part of any dish so it is paramount that you make sure that enough salt is added to the dish.

Neither too high nor too low salt must be used to achieve a great recipe. The important thing about cooking meat is that it should be cleaned so that the recipe has good aesthetics and also the salt should be added before you cook it. It is always better if you add the salt to the meat half-way through your cooking so that it has enough time to spread uniformly.

A good trick to prevent you from adding excess salt is to taste the food before the end of cooking. Pasta has become something which is indispensable in everyday life. Pasta will taste good if you add the salt to the boiling water rather than a still water.

You can become a good cooker only if you follow certain simple rules. For example never ever put salt in one go because it may go over the line. So it is always recommended that you put salt in multiple steps to have a control over the level. You can taste the food before adding salt again.

One of the oldest tricks to prevent the oil from foaming is to add little bit of tamarind. While you are frying a fish to get a deep fried fish try this trick to prevent the oil from foaming. You always wanted the gravy to be as thick as possible but many a times you would have failed.

Corn flour is an extraordinary thickening agent which you can use to thicken your soup or any other gravy. When you taste the food you have cooked before taking it out of the cooking appliance if you find the salt level being on the higher side then you can add some pieces of potatoes to suck all that excess salt. Always try to use necessary equipments to make sure that you cook the recipe perfectly.

For instance a sandwich is best done when it is cooked in a sandwich maker. The sandwich maker is good equipment which you can trust and use comfortable without any issues. The equipments do not only make sure that you save time but also you cook it in the right manner.

Cooking Tips Using a Fire Pit

Published by under Cooking

Everyone loves the special taste that fire brings to food. It’s that charred taste that awakens our primal spirit. Cooking outdoors over the fire is a great way to spend the evening. It’s also a good way to serve a lot of people at once, since fire pits are usually wider in circumference and can accommodate cooking more food at once than most grills you can buy. So, what’s the best way to cook food using a fire pit? Here are some tips and advice.

You’ll need to determine whether you want to use wood or charcoal to cook. If you can get your hands on a certain kind of wood, like hickory, you can impart your food with a distinctive taste.

Try to get your hands on some metal skewers. Skewers make cooking over a fire easy. Try to make sure they are long enough for ease of use. You simply have to light your cooking medium, either the wood or the coals, and watch your food as it cooks to make sure it gets those nice char marks on it. You won’t believe how marvelous and succulent meats, fish, seafood, and vegetables taste when they’re cooked like this. And cooking these foods at home in your own backyard makes them taste just a little bit better.

If you’re cooking over a fire pit, you’ve got to try roasting corn. Heat some coals and place the corn in the pit still in their husks, turning them ever so often. When the husks start to blacken, you can remove them from the heat source. Let the corn cobs cool a bit and then pull off their husks. The corn underneath should be slightly blackened as well. Serve with salt, pepper, and butter.

Now that you’ve got your luscious meal with your fire-cooked meats and vegetables, and your drinks of choice, how about dessert? Fire pits can be great for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. You can use the same cooking skewers as before or place the marshmallows on twigs and roast them over the fire just like you would if you were camping.

When you cook over a fire pit, it’s like going on vacation in your backyard. When summer comes around, it makes an incredibly fun home activity for family and friends. So if you’re up for something delicious and different, fire pit cooking may be for you.

Time Saving Holiday Cooking Tips

Published by under Cooking

The holiday season will soon be upon us, which means you will soon be spending more time with family and friends. While entertaining them you will probably want to have some baked goods on hand for your family like holiday cookies and cakes. While time is valuable, I have some tips that will make the process easier for you and increase your time for other activities.

Preparation is the key to getting ready and cutting down your time. A few days before you plan to do your baking, you can measure out all of your dry ingredients. Once you have measured these ingredients like flour, baking powder and salt, you can put the entire mixture into a plastic bag. Do not forget to write down the name of the cookie or cake mixture on the outside of the bag, such as chocolate chip or sugar cookies. Remember, we are trying to cut down time not add confusion, so this is a good habit to get into.

Let me mention one other thing. As you noticed, I have left out sugar from the dry ingredients. I did this on purpose, as most recipes call for you to add the sugar to the butter when you start making the cookies. So you can measure out the sugar beforehand but you should keep it in a separate package and mark the cookie or cake name you have measured the sugar out for. On the day you are ready to bake the cookies or cake. You can cut down on your mixing time if you take your refrigerated products out ahead of time. Letting the butter, eggs and cream cheese get to room temperature makes for easier blending and less time fighting with the ingredients. It will also help you by giving you a better and more even blend.

I hope this helps you prepare faster and get your cooking done quicker so you have more time for the important things – Spending time with family and friends. Have a happy holiday season!

Food Allergies and Digestive Enzymes – What You Should Know

Published by under Cooking

An allergy is a response by the immune system of human body to certain foreign substances. These substances are called allergens. Allergens can be anything from food items to dust and drugs. Different people are allergic to different substances.

Food sensitivities or ‘allergies’ are common, affecting more than 70% of the population in the U.S. For many of those people, it is assumed that food allergies are something they simply have to tolerate throughout their life. However, this is simply wrong. You CAN take steps to keep those allergies under control.

For example, food allergies and intolerances can be quite severe for people whose bodies do not produce sufficient digestive enzymes. Enzymes are proteins that help in digesting our food. They are mainly comprised of proteins and have a specific, 3-dimensional structure. The human body produces 22 different kinds of enzymes in order to digest carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

If your body is not producing enough enzymes, you need to eat enzyme-rich foods. Raw fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of enzymes. Conversely, over-cooked food is bad for us. Why? The enzymes are destroyed by over-cooking. The digestion of cooked foods is difficult, mostly because it lacks valuable metabolic enzymes. For this reason, a LOT more energy is spent in digesting cooked food when compared to raw food. (Ever get very tired after eating?)

All of these factors lead us to why there is a big connection between digestive enzymes and food allergies. A shortage of digestive enzymes can lead to large amounts of undigested food molecules piling up inside the body, including in the gut wall. This undigested food can actually feed bacteria present in the gut, allowing the bacteria to multiply, eventually leading to allergies or other health problems.

Most food allergies occur due to proteins not breaking down completely. These partially broken proteins enter the bloodstream and act as allergens. Low levels of stomach acid can lead to incomplete protein digestion, hence the problem of food intolerance.

It should be clear to you by now that one of the ways to treat food allergies is to take digestive enzyme supplements. Be careful about which enzyme product you are using. It should provide the following to your body – lipase, amylase and protease, and should be made from natural ingredients. Of course another way to treat this problem is to eat lots of raw, uncooked food. Fruits, vegetables, sprouted seeds and grains can prove very beneficial.
